Tips for Choosing the Wedding Venue

Tips for Choosing the Wedding Venue

Marriage is one of the major events in one’s life and everyone wants to celebrate it in their own way. If you have got engaged recently, then you would probably be on the lookout for the perfect wedding location to seal the love for each other in front of friends and families. A wedding venue can say a lot about the personalities you have. It is like a blank canvas over which you can paint and make it your own. There are a lot of things that you need to consider before zeroing in on one wedding venue. Here are a few tips that will help you in choosing the perfect wedding venue for you.

Before you start hunting for the wedding venue:

It is important to have a few points in your mind.

  1. Decide on the budget you are ready to spend. When you are planning to decide the budget, consider all the other expenses for the wedding and decide how much you are comfortable to spend on the wedding and the maximum budget till which you can stretch.
  2. Consider both your personalities and see what kind of wedding you prefer. While some prefer a quaint old wedding, a few others prefer traditional settings while others may prefer modern weddings. Talk with your spouse beforehand and straighten out the type of wedding you want and have a sample image in your mind about the kind of venue you are looking for.
  3. Have an idea of the approximate number of people who will be attending the wedding to get an idea of the size of the wedding venue.
  4. Do you need space for any extra traditional rituals during the wedding? If so, make sure that there are provisions for it.

When you are visiting the wedding venue:

  1. It is best to visit the venue when the manager is present. By this way, you can get all the details you want and can even get some relaxations and ideas to include your personal ideas in setting the wedding venue.
  2. Does the wedding venue hold the space for the decorations you have in mind? If you are planning to have a themed wedding, then it is much more important to see if the wedding venue reflects your theme or have all the abilities to let you decorate it accordingly.
  3. Visit the dining area. The dining area is as important as the main hall. Make sure it is spacious and can hold one-fourth of the people who are expected at the wedding.
  4. Make sure to check that there are adequate parking spaces else it will become a hassle for your guests to find a parking spot.
  5. Generally, the bride and the bridegroom along with selected relatives and friends may want to stay at the wedding venue or near it overnight. Therefore make sure that you have sufficient rooms for them to stay and get ready the next day or check if you have any decent hotels close by which you can use for this purpose.

Before you finalize the wedding venue:

Give in the advance amount to seal the deal, it is important to keep in mind the following tips.
    1. Inquire the manager about the rules and regulations they have and if you can abide by them. Make sure to know about the restrictions at the wedding venue beforehand.
    2. Before signing in any documents, read it carefully. If, by any chance, the manager is relaxing any of the agreement terms for you, then get the agreement form altered accordingly and get a copy of your signed form too. Also, get the terms for cancellation and refund clear.
    3. Make sure to get the receipt signed by the manager stating the advance paid and the remainder and the date before which you need to pay the amount.
    4. If you can, make sure to ask around to the couples who had their wedding previously in the same venue and see if you can spot any red lights and if so, get them sorted out.
    5. Ask if the catering service is a part of the package. In this case, make sure to have a tasting session before agreeing to it or if you can bring in your own catering team.
